Hilton’s Q2 promotion: 1000 bonus points per night

Hilton has announced theirHotel Promotions.jpg promotionfor 2011-Q2: from April 1 to Jun 30, 2011. Registering for the promotion basically gives you 1000 bonus points per night. It is nothing to be really excited about. Hilton’s lowest category hotel redemption starts at 7500 points per night. So even a category 1 redemption would require at least 8 nights. And a top notch Hilton hotel for 50K points would require 50 nights! Valuing HHonors points at $6 per 1000 points, this promotion is essentially worth $6 per night.

Of the other hotel chains only Hyatt and Priority Club have announced a Q2 promotion. Hyatt’s promotion is for 10,000 bonus points after 5 nights and 5,000 bonus points for every additional 2 nights during the promotion period. Loyalty Traveler has done a good analysis of the Hyatt promotion. In essence, this promotion gives 2000-2500 Gold Passport points ( a value of $30-$37) per night upto a maximum of 60K points. The lowest category Hyatt redemption requires about 5000 points and Park Hyatts need 22K points. So Hyatt promotion gives two free category 1 nights for every 5 stays or 1 Park Hyatt night for 9 nights.

Priority Club’s Q2 promotion is nothing to get excited about. You can only register for ONLY one of the following offers:

Register: -Stay 3 nights earn 5,000

Register: -Stay 7 nights earn 10,000

Register: -Stay 15 nights earn 15,000

Their lowest category hotels can be redeemed at 10000 points and the best InterContinental’s go for 40K points. This promotion too gives you about $6 per night.

As you can see, none of the Q2 promotions are really lucrative though Hyatt’s is the best of the lot. We are still waiting for other chains to announce a promotion. But I doubt any hotel would announce a very lucrative Q2 promotion. The hotel occupancies have improved; business is picking up. They do not really need to go that extra mile to fill up their rooms.
