And the Longest Flight in the world is operated by… Air India!?

Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, Air India is ready to grab the title of the longest flight in the world by getting all set to operate a non-stop Bangalore-San Fransisco (BLR-SFO) flight!! At 8,701 mile, this would exceed the current longest flight: Sydney – Dallas (SYD-DFW), operated by Qantas, by 123 miles. That flight is 8,578 miles. The current longest proposed flight is Dubai – Panama City (DXB-PTY) by Emirates, at 8588 miles (Yay! 10 miles more than SYD-DFW).

BLR-SFOBLR-SFOOn a personal note, my longest flight flown is Hong-Kong – Newark (HKG-EWR), which I flew TWICE this year. At 8,065 miles it is the 11th longest flight in the world, and the longest flight operated by United Airlines.

  1. All that time in an aluminum or composite tube? Emirates or Qantas perhaps, but Air India – no thanks!
