Hotel review: Elara, Hilton Grand Vacation, Las Vegas

Early last week, I stayed at Hilton Grand Vacation’s newest property – Elara, in Las Vagas. The building itself is fairly new, but it very recently became a Hilton. I am told that the Hilton Grand Vacation sign was just put up a few days ago. Before that it used to be a part of Planet Hollywood. It is a Hilton Grand Vacation resort, which means you can buy up suites there, but also a hotel, which is how I ended up staying there.

The hotel is beautiful and its location is excellent, just off the the strip and attached to the Miracle Mile mall. The main lobby actually opens up right into the mall. The Miracle Mile mall has the old Planet Hollywood at its other end.

I stayed in a studio suite, which was a nice sized room with a fridge and combination convention and microwave oven. The highlight was the floor to ceiling window. My room was on the top (56th) floor, with a great view of the strip. For those planning to stay there, odd numbered rooms face north, towards the strip and even numbered rooms face the airport. Being an aircraft junkie, I was really torn which way to go. I chose the strip as I did not have my DSLR camera with me.

Here are some pictures I took.Elara Las Vegas.jpg

  1. I stayed in a 1 BR suite there last week, very nice accommodations. Jacuzzi tub, projector, automatic full black out blinds. The 1 BR suite had a full kitchen including dishwasher and oven. Bathroom had a washer/dryer. Comfortable plush carpets and everything was new.

Other notes: The property doesn’t have its own restaurant, and it is connected internally to the miracle mile mall, and thus the Planet Hollywood and the PH casino. So there are a number of food choices you can walk easily to, including some breakfast options.

Valet parking was always full and the garage is a bit of a hassle to use. I did not check out the pool or exercise facility.

My room, facing north on the 23rd floor had almost no cell reception. The business center was under construction so I had an important meeting one morning from the top of the parking garage in my rental car to ensure my phone and aircard would hold connection reliably for a full hour. Their Internet was too slow for me to take the risk that it would have worked straight through in a Webex.

  2. Silas, thanks for sharing. I also had trouble with the internet access. It was down just when I needed it one night. Luckily I did not have cell phone issues (56th floor!). I thethered by laptop to my iPhone to get online.

  3. Oh also till December they are running a promotion for double HHonors points and a free upgrade to a jr suite if you ask for one at check in. I am HH Gold and I got a 2-lvl upgrade from my booked studio during a 5 day stay. YMMV

It is close enough to the strip that you can walk and bus without fear during your visit if you so desire. Also it is close to a monorail stop.

  4. @Silas – where do you find details on the doub HHonorspoints and free upgradt to a jr suite?

  5. The double points offer is still there on Hilton.com. I got it too 🙂

  6. To set the record straight. Elara used to be PH westgate not Planet Hollywood Resort and casino. PH Westgate was owned my Westgate one of the largest time share companies in the world. Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino is own by Caesar’s Entertainment. So PH Towers by westgate now Elara and Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino where two seperate companies.
